Duke University School of Nursing has renamed the School’s Green Team to the Duke Eco-Health Alliance (DEHA) to reflect expanding, collaborative work on climate, planetary health and sustainability with colleagues across Duke University and Duke University Health System. This interprofessional group will continue to lead and co-host events, workshops and initiatives that address planetary health and sustainability through a healthcare lens.

“Addressing planetary health and sustainability requires a team effort, and I am thrilled that DEHA will partner with colleagues across Duke to advance this vital work,” said Dr. Valerie Sabol, Clinical Professor and Director of Planetary Health at the School of Nursing. “As a nurse, I am dedicated to providing evidence-based care across the lifespan, and it is impossible to do that without also addressing climate effects on human health and the sustainability of the systems that support it. DEHA will engage students, faculty, and staff with the goal of reinforcing that planetary health and sustainability are integral to healthcare.”

Those interested in joining or learning more about DEHA can contact Dr. Valerie Sabol.
