The Nicholas School of the Environment offered a variety of scholars programs for undergraduate students in 2023-24, providing them with scholarships, mentorship, research opportunities, and interdisciplinary study to prepare them as leaders in environmental stewardship and climate solutions.

The Duke Marine Lab Scholars encompasses the Repass-Rodgers Scholars, the Scholars in Marine Medicine, and the Rachel Carson Scholars. These scholars are trained through small seminar experiences, experiential learning, enhanced faculty-student mentorship, scientific research, and professional development. Their research specialties include marine conservation, marine conservation technology, and marine medicine, all aimed at understanding life on our changing planet.

The Nicholas School of the Environment Climate Scholars Program named its inaugural cohort in 2024, providing undergraduate students across all majors with a faculty-mentored research experience, where Scholars build their study on a foundation of climate science after taking two courses in the Earth and Climate Science division, followed by faculty-mentored independent research.
