Duke Gardens connects the campus to community every day. This year, Duke Gardens donated more than 2,220 pounds of produce grown in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden to local food banks and more than 400 plants at public events hosted by community partners, including the North Carolina Pollinator Conservation Alliance, Interfaith Food Shuttle and Keep Durham Beautiful. As part of programming to support well-being, Duke Gardens continues to offer free monthly trolley tours to residents of the Caring House in treatment at the Duke Cancer Center. Duke Gardens collaborated on public programming with the Durham County Library–including an NC Moth Week family program, an author talk with Jarvis McInnis, and a program on lichens and fungi. Staff also volunteered to support the design and installation of a 2,600-square foot garden with nearly 500 plants at the Physician Assistant Program’s Duke Street campus. LEARN MORE.
