In 2025, Duke Gardens fully transitioned to battery-powered handheld gardening equipment, eliminating around 35 gallons of gas and mixed fuel usage per month. Studies have shown that gas-powered gardening equipment like two-stroke-engine leaf blowers release significant levels of deadly pollutants into the environment, emitting 23 times the amount of carbon dioxide as a typical pickup truck.
