Duke student Aaron Siegle was named a 2025 recipient of the nationally competitive Udall Scholarship, which honors students committed to careers that address environmental issues, Native American public policy or Native American health care. Siegle, who is planning to graduate with a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Environmental Management degree from the Nicholas School of the Environment, is one of 55 scholars selected from over 400 applicants nationwide.

Siegle’s academic and professional pursuits center on building a sustainable energy future. He aims to develop the technology, policy frameworks and community coalitions necessary to achieve net-zero emissions. At Duke, he has distinguished himself as a Rachel Carson Scholar and a member of the Climate Commitment Advisory Council, balancing rigorous research with policy advocacy. Siegle is a featured Duke Climate Pathfinder of 2025 as well.
