Four times throughout the 2023-24 academic year, the Office of University Scholars and Fellows (OUSF) hosted Critical Conversations in Climate, a series of panel events of faculty from different parts of the university discussing how their research is tied to climate change. Undergraduate merit scholars in their second and third years were required to attend all four sessions and to participate in question-and-answer sessions after the presentations. Sessions during the 2023-24 academic year focused on climate effects on communities and populations (October 2023), environmental health (November 2023), environmental justice (February 2024), and climate leadership (April 2024). Faculty speakers at these panel events offered ethical challenges in climate change advocacy, indigenous perspectives on the environment and climate change, and differing approaches to remedy aspects of climate change.
